Rods R Us saw its beginnings in 1998 when Vic Russum began building custom 1932 and 1934 Ford street rod chassis in Sacramento.  His work eventually attracted attention, leading to more extensive projects such as engineering a chassis for 1937 Fords utilizing full C5 Corvette suspension.   With over 50 years of personal and professional automotive experience, from drag racing and running USAC midget and sprintcars to managing the legendary Service Center Speed Shop in Compton CA, Russum was eager to return to his roots and these projects gave him the inspiration he needed.

Fueled by the demand for his chassis work, in 2004 Vic took a gamble and moved the shop to its current 10,000 square foot location behind American Pastimes in Carmichael, California.  Moving full steam into the street rod industry brought forth new possibilities as the shop's business grew exponentially and many new pieces of equipment were added, granting the team the ability to increase the quality and efficiency of the shop's work.  Russum also brought in a third generation gearhead, Patrick Russum, to join the family business and help deliver the highest standard of quality for our loyal customers.

The shop's focus has evolved to provide everything from general maintenance to turn-key builds, driven by Vic and Patrick's drive, dedication, and enthusiasm for the tradition and culture of the Sacramento area hot rod scene, and the art of the build.  With a diverse collection of turn-key builds completed to date, from 1920's Fords to the cutting-edge world of modern Pro Touring cars, the shop has proven its versatility and has grown its reputation as a designer and producer of award-winning builds.

The Rods R Us mission is to provide personalized service, give back to the community, and build the cars of our clients’ dreams.
